Physical Characteristics

Body length 0.149 in (3.8 mm) in male, 0.157 in (4 mm) in female. Body podoplean. First leg bearing segment free, but entirely concealed beneath carapace-like extension of dorsal head shield. Antennules 18-segmented in female; male antennule geniculate on both sides and used to grasp female during mating. Swimming legs 1-4 biramous, with three-segmented rami; fifth legs of female two-segmented with broad triangular pro-topodal segment bearing single exopodal segment, endopod represented by inner seta.
