Systemic disease presenting with or manifesting signs and symptoms in the head and neck will frequently do so in the cervical regions. This discussion focuses on systemic diseases that result in cervical adenitis, with or without pain, as an initial or hallmark finding. The majority of these disorders occur as a consequence of inflammatory etiologies, often masquerading as a more benign process. It is therefore important to recognize that these clinical findings may represent a more serious illness, warranting timely diagnosis.
